The restoration of Siena lands is usually considered of high quality. The detection of "Il Sole 24 Ore" (the most important Italian financial newspaper) about the quality of life revealed it even at the end of 2005, that reported the Senese wine and food offer on the stage of Italian preferred things.

A state of things to which even "Girogustando" contributes. The event by Confederation of Retailers in Siena, invented in 2002 by a group of restaurateurs of the Tuscan centre, only in three years has already become a fundamental date not only for those restaurants that wish to get better, but above all for the public who attend it. Over two hundred thousand people have attended the 2005 year edition and almost the same number is expected for the 16 soirées planned this year since February 2nd to March 30th.

But what is Girogustando? "The Italian chefs meet together in Siena" tells the pay off and it is just like that: in any of the soirées, a Senese Restaurateur receives a colleague coming from the rest of Italy who, for that occasion, transfers the tastes and atmosphere of his own restaurant and of his own land of origin.

That long twinning of "good table", the guiding event of the cold season this year alternates all the culinary expressions typical of the 10 Italian Regions. Though the capacity often contained of the participating spots, Girogustando succeeds in making an event of each soirée, to which whoever have previously participated often tends to come back to. The attractions therefore are several: the showing out of courses and ingredients, the sommeliers who honour the wines, the witnesses of the chefs with their own life stories.

 Then the questions and curiosities of the public and even some nice unscheduled programme: a plot that is never the same and that will be "on stage" in 2006 every wednesday or thursday in a Restaurant in Siena or in its province. The couples of restaurateurs can repeat their performance on the soirée following their former one; even during the following weekend the menu of the hosting restaurant contains a selection of contending courses, by offering that way one more reason to visit Siena Lands.

The Italian province into the limelight

The Italian Regions where the protagonists of Girogustando 2006 come from are ten as a whole and the parade thus alternate the various expressions of a cooking appreciated by the great public of the Italian province.

For two months a cross-section of restoration that wants to get better will come and have its shape and will not hesitate to confront itself to do that from Friuli Venzia Giulia to Abruzzo, to Liguria to Emilia Romagna all’Abruzzo, dalla Liguria all’Emilia Romagna obviously passing by Toscana. Girogustando 2006 finds the support of Chamber of Commerce of Siena, of the Association of Tuscan Wine Producers (A.pro.vi.to) to sort out the local wines and the sommeliers Fisar.

But the 5th edition enjoy the partnership with the Enoteca Italiana of Siena again as a granter for the choice of labels to match with the courses of the guest restaurators. Experts and v.i.p. compose night after night a rich parterre, mingling through the public who can participate to the soirées at the fixed price of 30,00 Euros.
